Man City's Premier League debut: 2-0 win over Chelsea

Manchester City made a memorable start to their new Premier League season with a 2-0 win at Chelsea, with goals from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic.

Pep Guardiola’s side started well, still in keeping with the https://ufabet999.app style of the defending champions. They played better and had slightly more chances and had a bit more possession.

The “Sky Blues” secured three important points before hosting newcomers Ipswich Town in their next game.

Manchester City Player Ratings

Ederson – 6/10

He was going to catch Palmer’s shot but it slipped out of his hands and fell to Jackson. Luckily, it was offside, but he also made a superb save from the Senegalese striker’s close-range shot.

Rico Lewis – 8/10

He was given the chance to start in place of the still-incomplete Walker and was a seamless replacement, including a last-gasp interception before Neto could take the shot.

Manuel Akanji – 6/10

Made a good block from Enzo’s shot in the first half, but didn’t show any mistakes the rest of the time.

Ruben Dias – 7/10

Collided with Enzo and fell down, but fortunately it was not a penalty. Other than that, there were no mistakes. He still commanded the defense strongly.

Josko Gvardiol – 6/10

There were some beautiful interceptions, but there were no exciting moments of attacking play like in other games because many times Man City had to stand low and retreat to play defense.

Mateo Kovacic – 8/10

He intercepted the ball before dragging it to shoot a beautiful goal to seal the victory for Man City and showed no signs of joy when facing his former team. In addition to the goal, he also controlled the tempo in the midfield very well.

Kevin De Bruyne – 6/10

He dropped himself low alongside Kovacic when the team started the game to pass the ball, but he didn’t have the killer pass that he’s used to.

Savinho – 7/10

He made a splash on his Premier League debut for his new club but unfortunately a collision towards the end of the first half left him injured and unable to continue in the second half.

Bernardo Silva – 7/10

I thought he would be a low-level striker, but in reality he was almost a low-level striker who made runs, created opportunities, and coordinated with Haaland before being the one to nudge Haaland to score the opening goal.

Jeremy Doku – 6/10

On the right wing, he couldn’t beat Cucurella. When he played on the left, he looked more natural and created more danger. He had a chance to shoot into the frame once, but his final touch was still questionable.

Erling Haaland – 7/10

He continued his form from last season by scoring in the opening game of the season. His strength created a threat to opposing defenses with his opening goal.

Substitute

Phil Foden (on for Savinho 46′)  –  6/10  – Linked up well with Lewis down the right but didn’t make much of an impact in attack.
